Summary:
To provide accurate tax compliance and investment accounting and reporting.
To provide support with accurate financial accounting, reporting and analysis, statutory compliance and regulatory reporting, and budgeting and forecasting.
Primary Job
Responsibilities:
Develops and administers all aspects of investments including entries, reconciliations, financial reporting and analysis.
Develops and administers statutory investment reporting.
Assists in preparation of complex statutory and regulatory reporting and filings for the state insurance departments and other regulatory agencies.
Compiles and prepares statutory and supplemental schedules for quarterly and annual statements.
Develops, recommends and enforces policies procedures and guidelines.
Coordinates compliance and prepares timely and accurate filing of all tax returns for multiple companies.
Implements processes and procedures to continually improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the tax compliance and related business functions.
Compiles the Line of Business accounting reports and analysis for Management's use with containing costs and forecasting expenses.
Assists with analyzing, interpreting and communicating cost and expense variances to management.
Assists with the annual budget and ongoing forecasts for department and affiliates.
Prepares and coordinates all aspects of annual investment budget for entire company.
Assists with monthly management reporting package with financial statements and supporting documentation and analysis.
Assist with preparing necessary documents for Board of Director and Finance Committee meetings.
Performs complex variance analysis on Consolidated Companies, including subsidiaries.
Conducts regulatory and non-regulatory research and financial analysis.
Provides assistance to external auditors including analysis and preparation of audit schedules for GAAP, Statutory and 401(k) Audits.
Act as a liaison with the external auditors relating to the audits and the financial statements.
Researches, negotiates and resolves related tax issues with regulatory agencies.
Prepares and posts entries related to investments.
Perform reconciliations of all areas of investment related accounts to the general ledger.
Monitors and researches potential GAAP/FASB accounting changes, including communicating and proposing changes to Accounting Management.
Maintains investment reporting system for financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
Prepares various monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements for both internal and external customers.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
Position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field and four years' experience in general accounting, taxes and/or investments.
CPA Licenses is preferred.
Position requires effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and problem solving skills as well as knowledge of intermediate Microsoft Excel and Word functionality, 10-key, accounting and alphanumeric data entry;Employees are to adhere to department and corporate policies and procedures, serve internal and external customers and support the goal of other departments and the company.
